in the early 2025, Heartland International English School launcheda new bursary program for permanent residents, refugees, and Canadian citizens. Heartland created the bursary program offering a $1,500 bursary for up to 100 applicants. The $150,000 commitment was intended to support newcomers in Manitoba who are keen to improve their chances of success in Canada, but unable to access language training. This bursary is awarded based on financial needs and designed to assist individuals who face financial barriers and are unable to afford full tuition for English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.

In 2026, our bursary program is expanding – newcomers in Manitoba can now receive a bursary on more courses.
Choose the course that fits your goals and schedule:
Semi-Intensive English (10 weeks – classes Monday to Friday) – 1100 CAD bursary
Intensive English (10 weeks – classes Monday to Friday) – 1500 CAD bursary
Accent Modification and Pronunciation (4 weeks – classes Tuesdays and Thursdays) – 120 CAD bursary
Workplace English – (12 weeks – classes Mondays and Wednesdays) 400 CAD bursary
Eligibility
You must be a Manitoba resident and permanent resident, Canadian citizen or refugee to apply.
You must complete an application form and a proof of status (PR card, passport, refugee travel document, etc.) will be asked during the bursary approval process.
Availability
We have 100 bursaries available. These bursaries will be awarded based on financial needs in a first come, first serve based. Only complete application will be considered for this awards.
If approved, your bursary award will be deducted from our regular tuition fee. An application fee of 125 CAD will be charged after the bursary is approved.
