Ken Coffin - Homestay Coordinator

I am the owner & operator of Polar Trails Homestay & Tours.  We have been associated with Heartland International English School for 5 years.  As a homestay coordinator I have been very fortunate to meet students from all over the world and take great pride in introducing them to the friendly families of Manitoba and our great Canadian cultural and natural attractions.

As a former student, teacher and recruiter I have had the unique opportunity to live, study, travel and work in Asia, Austral-Asia, Europe, Mexico and Canada, seeking adventure at every opportunity.  As a student and teacher I know the importance of learning in and outside the classroom, so I do my best to match students with families who are culturally sensitive & motivated to share their Canadian traditions.  Students looking to travel beyond the city and experience our incredible Canadian nature like the beautiful Aurora Borealis, Polar Bears, skiing & hiking trails and awesome camping spots will not be disappointed.  Polar Trails organizes tours to see and experience these local attractions.

Memorable Experience

Last summer I took a group of students to the Morris Stampede & Rodeo just outside Winnipeg.  We made our way to the grandstand to watch the Chuck wagon horse race.  I was paying close attention to the fast paced race and exciting action below, however I glanced up at the 21 year old Chinese student next to me whose eyes were intensely focused and gazing skyward over the open fields behind the race track, with a nudge of my elbow I managed to get his attention and asked what he was doing?  He replied "What's that!" as he pointed to the sky I then noticed the vibrant rainbow over head.  It turns out he had never seen a rainbow before and couldn't believe how beautiful it was.  It's moments like this that constantly remind me how fortunate we are to live where we do and how important it is for others to experience the natural wonders we may take for granted, so that we can all work at protecting them.

Looking forward to meeting and experiencing with you,
